2009 Refresher Training Day a success

The annual refresher training day is not just for those members who have not been around for a while. It is for all members who want to brush up on their basic skills and catch up with other Brigade members that you may not have seen in a while.  As you will no doubt be aware (if you pay attention to the media), this fire season is shaping up to be a big one, and, in the interests of personal safety and overall ability to perform on the fireground,  it is important that all active firefighters be familiar with the layout and operation of our vehicles and the essential equipment that we are likely to use.

This year we held the training day on Saturday 31st October at Stanley Park.  In all we had 17 members turn up and reaquaint themselves with our fire trucks and firefighting equipment.  We then spend a few hours brushing up on the firefighting and pumping skills and finally practiced the "Burnover" proceedure.  This is something I hope we never have to put into practice.
